Aerosol Fire Extinguishing System Technology.
The aerosol fire extinguishing systems manufactured by Firecom are based on potassium salts, an effective, economical and environmentally friendly extinguishing agent.
The solid compound (FPG compound), is contained in aerosol generators. The generators are non-pressurised metal containers, equipped with devices which allow the compound to be discharged and the aerosol cooled as it is dispensed.
Aerosol extinguishing agents offer a unique way of putting out fires, through a very fine dispersal in the environment.
The energy released by the activator turns the solid compound into a gas, creating an aerosol which interrupts the combustion chain without depleting the level of oxygen present in the space.

The condensed aerosol fire extinguishing system is undoubtedly the most effective method of fighting fires of the gaseous extinguishing media which operate through total saturation of the environment. Transformation process.
A fire causes a reaction between atoms and unstable free-radicals in the presence of oxygen. The Firecom system is able to extinguish fire by inhibiting the chemical chain reactions of combustion itself.
When the aerosol generator is activated, the FPG compound is transformed into a rapidly expanding fire-extinguishing condensed aerosol. The aerosol’s properties allow it to be distributed in a fast and uniform manner.
Firecom’s fire extinguishing system only requires small quantities of extinguishing agent since the solid particles of potassium salts, being small in size, are able to form a medium which acts like a gas and completely blankets the area.
In contact with flames, the aerosol creates potassium free-radicals (K*), primarily from the dissociation of K2 CO3. The K*, binding to other free radicals in the flame (hydroxls – OH-), form stable products such as KOH. This process extinguishes the fire without significantly reducing the oxygen content in the environment.
The solid particles of potassium carbonate (K2 CO3), deriving from the reaction of KOH in the presence of CO2, remain in suspension, preventing the fire from reigniting.
